When the heart is disturbed, the everyday mind awakens.

When you are centered your ability to influence and control yourself, others, and the situation is exponentially enhanced.  You can also more easily access your inner strength, knowledge and compassion. 

When you are not centered you are much more likely to get stuck in old and unwanted feelings and reactions.

Centering is like the beat of the heart or rhythm of the lungs: things come into focus and for a moment become still, then they spread apart in a complex dance of energy and attention.

Once you learn the simple steps you can activate it in less than seven- seconds. 

With continued use, you will soon develop the habit of returning to your natural heart and mind - no matter what is going on around you.

The essence of the practice is: expand your awareness to include your body.

Just remember...

I have legs and feet.

I have arms and hands.

I have a spine and head.

I breathe.

Any time you set into motion the forces of change, the defense forces of your habits are also activated.  If the resistance to becoming who you want to be seems too strong, then return to the Basic Centered Presence practice.

Then return with a greater acceptance of how you have been. This often opens the way for the quality you do desire to now show up.
