I am traveling through life and something happens and I wander. 

Unaware that I have wandered, I can wander further and further away from center and balance. 

Wandering, itself, is both natural and necessary. 

If I were to stop my mind from wandering, I might lose the gifts of insight, intuition and creativity.

So, the problem is not the wandering, it is being so caught up in it that you are unaware that you have wandered far from center and balance. 

And when you are living off-center you simply do not function as well as you might imagine, because you are out of sync with life.

To recover from this archetypal challenge requires two things:

A METHOD FOR RETURN OR RECOVERY




The method we will use to recover from this everyday challenge has four steps.

Step 1 is to activate the magnetic pull of here and now.  This way you can be drawn back naturally.  This method not only requires less effort than trying to bring yourself back on purpose but it also makes it easier to remember what you discovered on your journey.
 
As you move closer to the here and now, you can more clearly tune into what you are feeling.  This second step helps strengthen the bridge between your imagination and the concrete world.  
  
From this more grounded and open-hearted state you can now look around to notice what is going on around you.  This is Step 3. 

The final step is to use your breath to get into sync with the moment – with the flow of what you are doing.

Tune into what you are feeling.

Notice what is going on around you.

Get into synch with the moment.




Make this Real in your Life



  1. Develop the habit of pausing in the midst of your daily life to ask yourself if you are, perhaps, Mind-Wandering.
If so, then go through the four steps above and then return to what you are doing.

  1. Lower your judgment threshold and look for the signs that you might be approaching Mind-Wandering - but not there yet.
If so, then go through the four steps above and then return to what you are doing.
