I feel
heavy when the pull
downward is greater than
the movement upward.
This state can exist "for
many reasons" and most of
them are not problems.
There
are times when being sad
is the most genuine and
appropriate feeling you
can have. Without
the proper amount and
quality of heaviness,
sadness doesn't quite fit.
There
are times when being
seriously serious is the
way to be. Without
the proper amount and
quality of heaviness, no
one will believe you.
And
there are times when you
find yourself caught in an
unwanted state of
heaviness that feels like
"depression" or
"hopelessness" or simple
"resignation".
Regardless
of the type and reason for
feeling heavy, we are
concerned with whether you
want to stay there, now.
The
practice you will find
here has two parts.
The first is an
alternative story about
the heaviness of
"depression" that is
non-judgmental and
constructive.
Although we refer to
"depression," this story
fits for many different
moods and experiences.
The
second is a deceptively
simple practice that draws
out your natural capacity
to be uplifted, in a
genuine and non-coercive
way. It uses a
primitive reflex to
release your inherent
power to be lifted up -
from beneath - without
using your willpower and
desire to make it so.
Next we
have three practices for
magnifying your non-verbal
strength to handle
heaviness and to uplift
it.
